Why mixing matters for resin finishes
Resin is created from two main components—resin and hardener—which must be blended fully to start a chemical reaction. If resin is under-mixed or the ratios are off, your furniture might end up with sticky patches, cloudy streaks, or a weak surface that’s prone to scratches and peeling. Correct mixing ensures the finish adheres properly, cures evenly, and remains strong and transparent.
Mixing tips for best results
- Use exact proportions: Always follow the manufacturer’s recommended ratio—such as the 3:2 ratio for Art Pro.
- Mix slowly and thoroughly: Stir both parts gently yet thoroughly for the time suggested. Scrape the sides and bottom of the container repeatedly to ensure no unmixed residue remains.
- Switch containers: For absolute assurance, transfer the mixed resin to a clean pot and mix again for a minute or two.
When this matters most
Proper mixing becomes particularly important when you require a high-gloss, glass-like finish or are working on surfaces exposed to daily use, such as table tops. Incomplete mixing increases the risk of cloudiness and soft spots that spoil the final look and feel.
