Preparing for Demoulding
Preparation begins even before you pour your resin. Always use a suitable release agent compatible with your mould material, whether it’s silicone or plastic. This step will help the cured resin separate easily, reducing the risk of breakage or surface tearing. For best results, ensure the resin log is fully cured according to the product’s guidelines—rushing this stage can make removal difficult and mar the finish.
Step-by-Step Demoulding
- Gently flex the mould to loosen the resin log, taking care not to force or twist excessively.
- If required, carefully run a wooden or plastic tool around the edges—not metal or sharp objects as these can gouge the resin or damage your mould.
- Work slowly to gradually release suction points, moving around the mould rather than pulling from one side.
If working with extra-large or thick castings such as those made with Epoxytable 10-Ten, patience is even more important due to the weight and size of the resin log.
