Preparation: Ensuring Items Are Ready for Resin

The most important step is to ensure your chosen objects or images are completely dry and free of any dust, oils, or residues. Any moisture can interfere with the curing process or cloud the resin. For best results, clean each item and allow it to air dry thoroughly. If embedding photos or paper, consider sealing them with a clear-drying adhesive to prevent resin from soaking in and causing stains.

Layering Resin for Best Clarity

To achieve a crystal-clear finish, pour the resin in thin layers, allowing each to cure before adding the next. Secure your item in place in your mould or casting surface before the first pour to prevent it from floating. Many makers pour a small base layer first, position the object, then finish with additional layers until covered. This technique helps minimise bubbles and provides greater control over placement.

For casts up to 2cm thick, “Trasparente” epoxy resin is an excellent choice, delivering clear, self-levelling results well suited to crafts and keepsake projects.
