High Transparency with a Clear, Glossy Finish

What gives the finish its depth and gloss

Two factors tend to separate a genuinely clear result from a milky or washed-out one: how easily the resin flows around the aggregate, and how few bubbles remain after mixing. Low-viscosity binders penetrate quickly, helping the resin sit close to the stone rather than forming a cloudy film on top. A carefully worked surface then allows the cured layer to reflect light evenly.

Selecting the right transparent resin

For exterior pebble surfaces, a transparent epoxy binder such as Trasparente is designed to preserve the natural colour of dark or warm aggregates while producing a clear, glossy finish. It is generally walkable after around 10 hours and fully cured in about 24 hours.

For interior panels, table tops or low-odour projects, Icrystal offers a clear, odourless layer with high scratch resistance and pours up to 1.5 cm per application. The right choice depends on whether the surface is outside and permeable or inside and decorative.

When a glossy clear finish matters

A high-gloss clear coat is most valuable when the stones, pigments or base layer underneath are part of the design. If a binder is too cloudy or too thick, it can hide the very detail you are trying to show. Gloss also changes how a floor reads in daylight: it tends to make colours appear deeper, but can highlight surface scratches more than a satin finish. This trade-off is worth considering for front driveways or indoor walkable furniture where appearance is as important as protection.
