← Back to Epoxy resin. Single or multiple pours?

Selecting the right epoxy resin is essential for the success of your project, whether you’re crafting a river table, coating artwork, or working on decorative castings. The key is to match your resin choice with the intended pour depth and application style.
Understand Your Pour Depth Requirements
Poured thickness is the most important factor when choosing resin. For large projects like river tables, where a single deep pour is required, a specialised product such as Epoxytable 10-Ten is designed specifically for pours up to 10cm in one layer. If your project involves medium-depth pours up to 5cm, EpoxyTable 5-Five is an ideal alternative, offering similarly strong clarity and low exothermic heat, but tuned for slightly thinner layers. Smaller craft and art pieces, or projects requiring thin layers under 2cm, are better suited to versatile options like “Trasparente” or “Icrystal” for a clear, self-levelling finish without risk of overheating.
Surface Coating, Art, and Decorative Projects
If your goal is to achieve a smooth, glossy surface or to seal artwork, opt for resins like “Icrystal” or Art Pro that are formulated for thin coating applications. These resins provide excellent clarity, UV protection, and scratch resistance—essential for surfaces that will see regular use or direct light. With a manageable mixing ratio and odourless formula, “Icrystal” is ideal for beginners as well as artisans working indoors.
When This Matters: Choosing for Project Size and Safety
Always consider the total volume and dimensions of your mould or project. Attempting to pour a regular resin too thickly can cause unwanted heat buildup, bubbles, and curing issues. For objects with sections thicker than recommended by the manufacturer, pouring in layers with the correct curing interval ensures a safe, bubble-free result with a strong bond between each layer.
