Why Air Bubbles Appear in Resin
Air bubbles form during the mixing and pouring stages, often trapping around embedded items such as printed messages or handwriting. They can arise due to rapid stirring, environmental changes, or the surface of the item being embedded. Left unaddressed, bubbles can distract from the clarity and readability of your embedded writing.
Effective Techniques for Bubble Removal
- Slow Pouring: After mixing, pour your resin slowly from a low height. This reduces agitation and minimises bubble formation.
- Use a Heat Source Cautiously: Gently pass a heat gun or torch over the resin’s surface to help bubbles rise and pop. Avoid holding the heat in one spot to prevent overheating, especially with products such as “Trasparente” – Multipurpose Clear Epoxy Resin, which performs best up to 2cm thickness per pour.
- Let it Rest: Allow the mixed resin to stand for a few minutes before pouring to give bubbles a chance to escape naturally.
- Seal Porous Materials: If embedding on porous surfaces or paper, seal them first to reduce bubble release during curing.

Removing air bubbles quickly is especially important when working with layered writing, deep pours, or transparent castings. Delayed removal can result in bubbles getting trapped beneath embedded writing, causing unwanted distortions that are difficult to fix once hardened.
