Essentials for Workspace Preparation

Before you begin, clear a well-ventilated area where you can work undisturbed. Equip your workspace with a sturdy, flat surface that can withstand spills, and if possible, cover it with a disposable plastic sheet or a non-stick mat to catch drips. Keep all your tools and materials—such as mixing buckets and resin pastes—organised and within easy reach. Adequate lighting is crucial to spot any air bubbles or inconsistencies as you work.

Choosing and Using Safety Equipment

Using resin safely means taking precautions to prevent skin contact and inhalation of fumes. At a minimum, wear nitrile gloves and a suitable mask or respirator. Safety goggles are recommended to protect your eyes from accidental splashes. Ideally, use resin in a space with good airflow; consider a fan or extractor if your area is enclosed. Long sleeves can add additional protection for your arms during mixing and pouring.
