Understanding Resin Cure Times

Most artistic epoxy resins begin to set within 24 hours, but this is only the initial curing stage. During this period, the surface may feel dry or firm to the touch, yet it remains vulnerable to pressure, dust, and scratches. For example, clear resins such as Art Pro are typically touch-dry after a day, but not fully hardened underneath. Full curing—when the resin reaches optimal strength and durability—may require 2 to 7 days, depending on temperature, humidity, and the thickness of the layer.

Practical Guidance: Handling and Presentation

If you wish to move or hang your resin art, wait at least 24 hours before gently touching the surface or edges. For any heavy handling, trimming, wet-cleaning, or framing, allow several days for the resin to reach its maximum strength. Place your piece in a dust-free, horizontal environment during curing, and avoid stacking artworks on top of each other. Using direct protective tools like resin application rollers also helps minimise marks and surface flaws during final finishing.

When Curing Times Matter Most

• High-traffic or functional art: Items handled often (e.g., trays, coasters) should be left for at least 72 hours before use.
