Why Level Matters for Resin Application

Vitrifying resins are designed to flow and settle, forming a glass-like finish. However, gravity will cause the resin to migrate towards the lowest point if your painting or surface isn’t level. This leads to pooling, thick patches, or even unchecked resin runoff at the edges, potentially distorting your art and wasting material.

How to Prepare a Flat Workspace

• Check with a spirit level: Before pouring resin, use a spirit level at several points on your table or board to guarantee it’s flat.
• Adjust as needed: Shim the legs of your table, or place thin pieces under corners until the bubble shows a perfect level.
• Stabilise your artwork: Place your painting on raised supports and double-check the level of the artwork itself, not just the table.

This preparation is especially important for large, tray-like canvases or when using clear, glossy resins like “Trasparente”, which will show up any irregularities.

Using Tools for Even Resin Distribution

With your surface set up correctly, the right tools help maintain a consistent layer. Short-pile or sponge rollers, such as those found in Resin & Paint Application Rollers, can assist in spreading resin smoothly and encourage self-levelling, especially on larger pieces.
