Why Use a Clear Resin Top Coat?

Beyond just aesthetics, a resin top coat forms a durable layer that shields your creation from scratches, dust and UV exposure. Quality resins such as Art Pro offer excellent clarity, helping to highlight colours and embedded details. Many top coats are formulated to resist yellowing over time, maintaining the fresh look of your piece longer.

How to Apply a Top Coat for Best Results

• Surface Preparation: Ensure the piece is clean, level, and free from dust.
• Mixing: Follow the specific resin’s instructions—most clear coats require accurate ratios (e.g. 3:2 for Art Pro) for proper curing.
• Pouring and Spreading: Pour gently to minimise bubbles, and use a spatula or brush for even coverage. For very detailed or vertical surfaces, consider a high viscosity resin such as Art Pro Deluxe to prevent drips.
• Finishing Touches: Pop surface bubbles with a heat gun or torch. Allow to cure according to the resin’s guidance, usually 12–24 hours for most systems.

Once the coat is fully cured, you may wish to polish with a dedicated system like Epoxy Polish for a mirror-like gloss.
