Select a Resin with UV Protection

Choosing a resin that contains integrated UV filters is one of the best ways to hinder the yellowing process. UV exposure is a primary factor in resin discolouration. Look for clear epoxies explicitly designed to resist yellowing, such as “Trasparente” Multipurpose Clear Epoxy Resin or “EpoxyTable 5-Five” and “Icrystal”, which all utilise UV filter technology developed to maintain clarity for years.

• For castings up to 2cm, “Trasparente” is an ideal choice.
• For deeper castings, consider “EpoxyTable 5-Five” (up to 5cm) or “Icrystal” (up to 1.5cm per pour).

Storage and Display

Even when using UV-resistant resin, exposure to bright sunlight can gradually cause yellowing. If possible, display embedded flower pieces out of direct sunlight and store them in a cool, shaded area. This can help prolong the vibrancy and clarity of the embedded flowers within the resin.

Handling and Application Tips

Proper mixing and pouring techniques are essential for preserving both the resin and the embedded flowers. Avoid over-mixing, which can introduce excess air and potentially ruin the clarity. Pour in layers if creating thicker pieces, following manufacturer guidelines for the maximum recommended thickness per application.
