← Back to How much coverage does epoxy resin provide per square metre?

Planning an epoxy resin project? Knowing how much resin you’ll need is essential for achieving a flawless finish, whether you’re working on a table, flooring, or an art piece.
Simple Coverage Formula
The basic method for estimating epoxy resin requirements is straightforward. Measure the surface area you wish to cover (in square metres), then multiply by your desired layer thickness (in metres). For example, covering 1 m² at 1 cm (0.01 m) thick requires roughly 1 litre of mixed epoxy resin.
- Area = length × width (in metres)
- Volume needed (L) = area × thickness (m)
This approach applies to tabletops, floors, and artwork. Always measure carefully and factor in any edges or substrate absorption if relevant.

How to Choose Resin Thickness for Different Projects
Project type will influence the best thickness. For art coatings or surface protection, typically 1–3 mm suffices. Tabletop pours often range from 0.5 cm up to 2 cm for substantial, durable layers, while flooring might require an even distribution at around 1–2 cm, depending on usage.
For thicker pours, use a product such as “Trasparente” Multipurpose Clear Epoxy Resin which is designed for layers up to 2 cm. Thinner coatings for art can utilise specialist options like “Art Pro” for the clearest possible finish.
When This Matters Most
Calculating resin coverage precisely helps avoid costly waste or shortages. This is particularly crucial for large surfaces, multiple layers, or designs requiring uniformity such as river tables, statement floors, and intricate artworks.
