Why Exothermic Reaction Matters in Deep Pours

When epoxy resins cure, they generate heat—the exothermic reaction. In deeper castings, this effect can intensify, leading to possible yellowing, cracks, or deformation. Specially formulated deep pour resins are designed to cure more slowly, releasing heat gradually, and are ideal for safe castings up to 5cm thick. This reduces the risk of overheating and allows for clear, bubble-free results.

Choosing a Suitable Resin for 2–5cm Castings

For resin pours up to 5cm, opt for products specifically made for deep casting. EpoxyTable 5-Five is designed for castings from 2cm up to 5cm and is an excellent choice for tabletops, river tables, and similar medium-depth projects. Its low exothermic formula ensures controlled curing and a strong, clear finish. For smaller projects or thinner layers, choose resins such as “Trasparente” (up to 2cm) or “Icrystal” (up to 1.5cm).

Practical Tips for Deep Castings

• Allow each layer to cure fully if pouring multiple layers for extra-thick pieces.
