This resin offers a low exothermic reaction, which helps prevent overheating (a common issue with thick pours), as well as strong UV filters to minimise yellowing. If your casting is between 2cm and 5cm, “EpoxyTable 5-Five” is a solid option, while thinner, highly detailed projects may be suitable for alternatives like “Trasparente”.
Techniques for Successful Deep Pour Casting
Deep castings require careful planning and controlled conditions. Always pour on a stable, level surface, and ensure your workspace is at a suitable temperature to avoid premature curing. For thick casts (close to 10cm), pouring in stages—or layering—may be necessary for particularly large surface areas to ensure stable curing. Allow each layer to partially set before adding the next to avoid excess heat build-up. Use slow mixing and pour slowly to minimise bubbles. If bubbles do appear, gently pass a heat gun at a safe distance to help them rise and pop.
