Selecting the Resin by Pour Thickness
For deep projects, resin selection depends mainly on the thickness of the layer being poured. For tables and castings above 5 cm in depth, Epoxytable Ten is designed specifically for pours up to 10 cm. This specialised formula offers a low exothermic (heat) reaction, reducing the risk of cracking or yellowing in thick sections. If your project falls between 2 cm and 5 cm in thickness, consider EpoxyTable Five, which handles these moderately deep pours with clarity and durability.
Practical Tips for Deep Pour Success
Always pour in a controlled indoor environment and use a mould or dam that can withstand the weight and temperature of large resin volumes. For optimal results, it’s best to pour very thick layers (over 5 cm) in stages—especially with Epoxytable Ten—to help avoid overheating and bubble formation. Allow each stage to cure before proceeding with the next. Follow the mixing instructions carefully, using accurate scales, and avoid adding colourants or inclusions that may affect cure rates in deep sections.
