← Back to How do you use the pot with epoxy resin?

Keeping your mixing pot free of resin contamination is essential for achieving clear and professional epoxy finishes. Just a little leftover residue can affect adhesion or cause cloudiness in future projects. Thankfully, good habits and the right tools make it easy to keep your pots in top condition.
Clean Thoroughly After Each Use
It’s vital to clean out your pot immediately after every pour. Epic leftovers or cured drips left behind will contaminate the next mix. For most epoxy projects, warm soapy water works well for fresh, uncured resin. If any resin has set, using a flexible mixing bucket allows you to simply flex or squeeze the sides to pop out the cured material. This design dramatically reduces the risk of stubborn residue and makes cleaning less of a chore.

Don’t Reuse Uncleaned Pots or Leftover Resin
Always start with a spotless pot—never add new resin atop old, semi-cured leftovers. Mixing different batches or using pots with traces of prior additives or pigments can lead to unpredictability in colour and finish. To stay consistent, dedicate enough time to clean tools and store separate pots for different types of resin if you work on multiple projects.
When This Matters Most
Meticulous cleaning is especially important when working on items where clarity, colour fidelity, or structural bonding matter—such as making river tables, art objects, or decorative coatings. Even small amounts of cross-contamination can become visible in transparent or lightly tinted projects.
