Achieving a clear, bubble-free resin bouquet casting relies not just on your technique, but also on the temperature of your workspace. Selecting the correct environment is key to a successful preservation.
Ideal Workspace Temperature
For best results when preserving a bouquet in resin, work in a room where the temperature is consistently between 20–25°C (68–77°F), and the air humidity is low. This temperature range gives you enough time to mix, pour, and position your flowers without the resin setting too quickly or too slowly. Sudden changes in temperature or working in a very cold or hot area can result in cloudiness, bubbles, or uneven curing.
Practical Preparation Tips
- Warm up your workspace in advance if needed, and allow all materials, including your resin and dried flowers, to acclimatise to the same temperature.
- Keep windows closed and avoid direct drafts, which can disrupt even curing.
- If possible, use a hygrometer to monitor humidity, aiming for as dry an environment as possible—high humidity can cause cloudy finishes.
- Consider using products designed for clear embedding, such as “Trasparente” Multipurpose Clear Epoxy Resin, to achieve reliable transparency for thinner casts up to 2cm.
When This Matters Most
Maintaining the recommended temperature is particularly crucial if your bouquet includes delicate or light-coloured petals, or if you’re aiming for large, crystal-clear pieces such as table centrepieces or keepsake blocks. Inconsistent temperatures can lead to unwanted bubbles or a milky appearance that’s hard to correct after the resin cures.
