Embedding a phrase in transparent resin can create a stunning, lasting effect, but unwanted bubbles often spoil that crystal-clear look. Fortunately, there are proven techniques for preventing bubbles around your embedded words and ensuring a professional finish.

Carefully Prepare and Seal Your Phrase

Begin by making sure your phrase, whether it’s printed or handwritten, is thoroughly sealed. Brushing on several thin layers of clear acrylic lacquer or a suitable sealant on both sides will waterproof the paper and stop trapped air or ink from reacting with the resin. Allow each layer to dry fully before applying the next. For vibrant results, use photo paper with pigment ink if possible, as this resists bleeding and discolouration.

Embedding the Phrase Without Trapping Air

For the clearest finish, pour a thin layer of resin into your mould and allow it to partially set—just enough to become tacky but not hard. Gently lay your sealed phrase onto this resin, easing it in from one side and pressing out air as you go. Once placed, slowly pour the next layer of resin over the top, allowing it to flow naturally. For additional reassurance, a brief pass with a heat gun on a low setting can help raise and disperse any remaining bubbles near the surface—don’t overheat, as this may damage your phrase or resin.

Choosing the Right Resin for Clear Results

Opt for an ultra-clear, self-levelling resin that’s designed for casting and embedding. “Trasparente” epoxy resin is ideal for projects up to 2cm thick, delivering a glass-like, scratch-resistant finish. For thinner pieces, products like “Icrystal” offer odourless formulas and reliable UV protection. Always mix according to manufacturer guidelines and avoid vigorous stirring to reduce the introduction of bubbles.
