The main way to prevent overheating is to pour your resin in layers no thicker than 2cm at a time. Thicker layers generate more heat as the resin cures, which increases the risk of overheating and can damage your work. If you need more depth, allow each layer to cure before adding the next.

• Stick to recommended layer depths for your chosen resin.
• Use measuring tools for consistency.
• “Trasparente” epoxy resin is ideal for layers up to 2cm, making it well suited for most casting and art projects.

Managing Additional Heat

Avoid using external heat sources such as heat guns, hairdryers, or hot water baths excessively. While gentle warming can help with bubble release, too much added heat will accelerate the curing process beyond what’s safe and cause the resin to overheat.

• Work in a cool, well-ventilated room.
• If you must remove bubbles, use quick, light passes with a heat gun rather than prolonged exposure.
• Allow each layer to cool naturally before pouring again.

When to Be Extra Cautious

It’s particularly important to watch for overheating during hotter weather or when working on larger pours. If you’re casting embedded objects or using colourants, check that they don’t interfere with the curing reaction, which can also contribute to excessive heat build-up.
