Mixing Resin to Minimise Bubbles
To avoid introducing bubbles, combine the resin and hardener by stirring slowly and steadily. Rapid or vigorous mixing traps air in the blend and makes bubbles harder to remove. Allow your mixed resin to rest for several minutes before pouring, which helps many bubbles rise to the surface and pop naturally. If using a transparent casting resin such as “Icrystal” Clear Epoxy Resin, this technique is highly effective for both beginners and experienced crafters.
Techniques for Bubble Removal After Pouring
Once poured into a mould, check the surface and trapped areas for any remaining bubbles. Use a toothpick or cocktail stick to gently tease stubborn bubbles towards the surface. For small pieces such as jewellery spheres, this is often all that’s needed. Avoid overworking the resin, as this can introduce more air.
