Why Thickness Matters for Resin Paint

In general, applying thicker layers of resin paint increases scratch resistance and overall durability. Thicker coatings form a more substantial protective barrier, helping to shield the underlying surface from scuffs and abrasions. However, exceeding recommended layer limits can lead to application issues such as incomplete curing or unwanted heat build-up, so it’s important to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for optimal results.

Recommended Thickness by Project Type

• For glossy finish layers and artwork detail, products like Art Pro Deluxe are designed for controlled application and a crystal-clear, scratch-resistant finish. Individual layers should remain within advised thicknesses (typically up to a few millimetres).
• For deeper coatings such as functional table surfaces, choose a resin that allows for thicker pours, such as “Trasparente” (up to 2cm) or “Icrystal” (up to 1.5cm per layer).

Combining several thinner layers can be more effective and safer than a single overly thick coat, especially for large or high-traffic items.

When Layer Thickness Makes a Difference
