← Back to Where can mermaids be embedded in resin?

Embedding mermaids and sea creatures in resin is a favourite technique for achieving stunning ocean-inspired artworks. However, unwanted air bubbles can spoil the perfect undersea effect. Here’s how to keep your creations crystal clear.
Pour Resin in Thin Layers
The most effective way to minimise bubbles is to pour your resin in multiple thin layers, rather than in one deep pour. Each layer allows air to naturally escape before you add the next, resulting in a clear, smooth finish. For shallow artworks and jewellery up to 2cm, a product like “Trasparente” clear epoxy resin is ideal thanks to its low viscosity and clarity.

Seal Your Mermaid Figures and Sea Elements
Before embedding, ensure your mermaid figurines, artificial seaweed, or other decorative items are fully sealed. Unsealed items can trap air or release bubbles into the resin. A quick coat of the same resin or a sealing medium allows resin to flow smoothly around objects.
Choosing the Right Resin and Techniques
Low-viscosity, quality resins naturally release fewer bubbles and make the embedding process easier. If your underwater scene requires a thicker pour (up to 5cm), opt for a deep-pour formula like “EpoxyTable 5-Five”. Allow each layer to sit for a few minutes to let bubbles rise to the surface before gently popping them with a toothpick or blowing softly. Avoid heat guns on thin pours, as they may cause overheating, especially for layers over 2cm.
