Tiny air bubbles can spoil the clarity and detail of resin figurines. Fortunately, with a few careful techniques and product choices, you can dramatically reduce bubbles when pouring resin into your moulds.
Pouring Techniques for Bubble-Free Castings
Poor pouring habits are one of the most common causes of trapped air. Always pour resin slowly in a thin stream, starting at the lowest part of the mould. This allows the resin to flow smoothly and push air out before it gets trapped. Avoid dumping all the resin at once.
If your project involves intricate moulds or fine details, gently tap or flex the mould after pouring. This helps any small bubbles rise and escape to the surface. For stubborn bubbles in corners or around fine features, use a toothpick to tease them out gently.
Preparing the Mould and Selecting Products
Choosing the right mould and resin makes a noticeable difference.
