The thickness of the resin layer affects both the look and durability of your floor. Too little resin may leave voids or weak spots; too much can be prone to overheating during curing, particularly for deep pours. Properly calculating resin amounts ensures smooth, robust coverage and maximises longevity.
How to Measure and Calculate
Start by measuring the length and width of your floor to find the area. Decide on the finished thickness of your resin layer, then multiply these values to determine cubic volume. Use a resin calculator or standard volume formula: Length × Width × Thickness = Total Volume (adjust units as needed). For detailed floors with features, factor in valleys and raised elements.
For example, for layers up to 2cm thick, a clear and UV-resistant product like “Trasparente” multipurpose epoxy resin is ideal. Thicker pours, up to 5cm, require a deep-cast formula such as EpoxyTable 5-Five to avoid overheating and ensure clarity.
