When protecting or encapsulating a PCB board, choosing the right epoxy resin is vital for ensuring reliable insulation and stable long-term performance. Not all epoxies are equally suitable for electronics.
Why Not All Epoxy Resins Are Suitable
General-purpose epoxies may not provide the electrical insulation or low outgassing needed for electronics. Some can contain additives or impurities that could cause conductivity, corrosion, or unwanted surface reactions over time.
For PCB boards, it is crucial to choose an electronic-grade or specialised clear epoxy formulated for high dielectric strength and minimal emissions. This reduces the risk of shorts, moisture ingress, or long-term reliability issues.
