Common Causes for Sticking Despite Release Agent Use

There are several reasons why epoxy resin may bond to your mould even though you used a release agent. The most frequent issues include:

• Incomplete or uneven application: Missing spots or thin patches during application can leave areas exposed, letting resin adhere to the mould.
• Expired or degraded release agent: Over time, agents can lose effectiveness—always check the product’s shelf life before use.
• Insufficient curing time: If the release agent hasn’t had enough time to dry or set before pouring the resin, it may not form an adequate barrier.

Best Practices When Using Release Agents

To improve demoulding, always apply your release agent—such as Global A2 Release Wax—in a thin, consistent layer. Let the product dry fully, which usually takes just a few minutes. Pay extra attention to corners and detailed areas of your mould to ensure complete coverage. If you’re working on porous surfaces, apply additional coats to seal micro pores before casting.

Before each use, give the container a quick check for the manufacturing or expiry date and always store it as recommended.
