For floors, the required resin thickness depends on the function and appearance you desire:

• Clear protective coat: 2mm is typical for a smooth, seamless look and reliable durability.
• Pebble or decorative floors: 2cm or more allows the aggregate to set fully and support foot or light vehicle traffic.

Kitchen worktops or bathroom countertops generally require a 1–1.5mm layer of resin. This achieves a glossy, hardy finish without excessive build-up or risk of cracking.

Application Tips for Even Coats

Measuring your area is the first step—multiply width by length to get the surface area, then multiply by your desired thickness to estimate the total resin required. For example, a 16m² room with a 2mm thick clear coat will need approximately 32 litres of resin. Always allow a little extra to account for surface irregularities or edge spillages.

When Thickness Matters Most

The right thickness is especially important where floors see frequent use, or when using decorative elements such as pebbles that need to be well-encapsulated.
