If you apply fresh epoxy at the optimal stage—when the previous coat is slightly tacky but no longer runny—the next layer melds seamlessly without lifting or cloudiness. This careful timing also reduces the need for sanding between coats.
Recommended Waiting Times for Recoating
For most art and surface coating resins, such as Art Pro, the first layer typically cures within 12 to 24 hours at room temperature. For best results, pour or brush on your next layer when the surface is no longer liquid but remains slightly sticky to the touch. If the initial layer hardens completely, it’s advisable to sand lightly before adding another coat. For deep pour resins, like “EpoxyTable 5-Five”, allow 6 to 8 hours between successive pours when building up thick projects.
