Bubbles can spoil the flawless look of your 3D resin floor, especially when poured over artwork. Here’s how to minimise bubbles and achieve a clear, professional finish.
Seal the Artwork Before Pouring
Ensuring your artwork is properly sealed is an essential first step. Unsealed edges or porous surfaces allow air to escape into the resin, creating bubbles that can spoil your final result. Use a suitable sealer to cover your artwork entirely, paying special attention to the edges. This helps lock in any trapped air and prevents it from rising as you pour the resin.
Best Pouring Practices for Clear Results
When it’s time to pour your resin, go slowly and steadily. Pouring too quickly can trap air between layers or disturb your artwork. Working in thin layers rather than one thick pour can also help reduce bubble formation. Resins such as “Trasparente” multipurpose epoxy are specifically designed to provide a clear, self-levelling finish, making them ideal for detailed 3D floors where clarity is key.
Removing Trapped Air for a Flawless Finish
After pouring, bubbles may still appear on the surface. Gently passing a heat gun over the resin will release most trapped air. Keep the heat gun moving and hold it a safe distance from the surface to avoid overheating or damaging the resin. Continue this process until you achieve a glass-like finish free of visible bubbles.
When This Matters Most
Bubble prevention is especially important when your 3D resin floor design features photographs, printed designs, or painted images. Any trapped air will be more noticeable over intricate or high-contrast art.
