For a smooth, stable pebble or aggregate floor, using the correct binder is crucial. If you wish to secure coloured pebbles or grits beneath a resin surface, the right approach ensures lasting results and an attractive finish for both new projects and repairs.
Why Use an Epoxy Binder?
Epoxy binders are uniquely suited for fixing coloured aggregates such as pebbles or decorative grits onto flooring surfaces. Unlike simply pouring resin over loose stones, mixing the two together allows the binder to fully encapsulate each pebble, ensuring strong adhesion and reducing the risk of movement over time. Transparent epoxy, such as “Trasparente” Epoxy Binder, keeps the natural colour of the stones visible while offering a tough, long-lasting bond.

How to Secure Pebbles and Grits
For best results, mix your chosen coloured pebbles or grits thoroughly with the transparent epoxy binder according to the manufacturer’s ratio—generally about 3% resin by weight of stones. For instance, you might use 800g resin for 20-25 kg of 1–2 mm aggregates. After combining, immediately spread the mixture onto your prepared base to ensure even distribution and a level surface. The low viscosity of a purpose-designed binder helps it coat and impregnate even small stones for a durable result.
When the Right Binder Matters Most
Choosing a binder specifically formulated for pebbles and grits is especially important for driveways, paths, and permeable floors, where both aesthetics and resilience are required. UV-resistant and non-yellowing formulations guarantee your decorative surfaces stay vibrant over time, particularly with coloured or dark aggregates subject to direct sunlight.
