Choosing Suitable Metals and Stones
It’s important to use non-reactive metals and stones when embedding in epoxy resin. Most natural stones and commonly used non-ferrous metals are suitable, but items must be free from oil, wax, or dust to prevent clouding and ensure a strong bond. Always avoid metals prone to corrosion or any with surface contamination.
Preparation for Best Results
Before embedding, thoroughly clean your metal and stone pieces—warm water and mild soap often suffice, followed by a complete dry. This minimises any risk of residue interfering with the resin’s cure or appearance. Arrange your items in the mould and pour resin carefully to fully surround each piece, avoiding trapped air.
Resin Selection and Project Guidance
The clarity and thickness capability of your resin are key for embedding objects. For projects up to 2cm thick, consider “Trasparente” – Multipurpose Clear Epoxy Resin, which offers excellent transparency and a self-levelling finish. For projects requiring slightly thinner pours, resins such as “Icrystal” or “One-2-One” are also highly suitable. Always work in a dust-free, well-ventilated area and follow mixing directions closely.
