← Back to How to repair a floor that has already been levelled with resin?

Minor cracks, chips or wear on resin floors are not uncommon, especially in areas of high use. Fortunately, it’s usually possible to repair only the affected spots, helping extend the life of your flooring without the disruption and expense of a complete recoat.
Assessing the Damaged Area
Begin by thoroughly cleaning the damaged area to remove dust, debris and any loose resin. Closely inspect the floor to determine the depth and size of the damage. For isolated cracks, chips, or small defects, a local repair is typically feasible. Larger or multiple damaged sections may require broader restoration.

How to Repair Localised Damage on Resin Floors
Once the damage is assessed, select a suitable patching product. For chips and cracks, an epoxy mastic such as “Magelstick” offers excellent adhesion to stone, metal, and cement, and is easy to apply even on vertical surfaces. Carefully mix and apply the mastic to the damaged area, smoothing it level with a spatula. Allow to cure as per manufacturer’s instructions.
- After curing, sand the patch gently to blend it with the surrounding resin floor.
- If necessary, apply a universal primer such as “Epoxyprimer” to ensure the repair bonds well with any topcoat or finish applied afterwards.
- Consider fibreglass-reinforced putty for filling deeper holes, as it provides additional durability and is easy to sand prior to finishing.
When to Opt for a Local Repair
Spot repairs are ideal when the majority of the floor is in good condition apart from isolated issues. This is especially useful in high-traffic spots, entryways, or areas that have sustained minor impact. Proper surface preparation and careful blending are key to achieving a durable, unobtrusive repair.
