← Back to How do you build a permeable parking area?

After installing a permeable driveway or parking area, it’s important to wait for the resin-bound surface to fully cure before use. Following the correct curing times prevents damage and ensures long-lasting results.
Walk-On and Drive-On Times
Generally, a newly installed permeable surface can be walked on after about 12 hours, as long as temperatures are at or above 20°C. Vehicle access, however, should be delayed until at least 36–48 hours after installation. Cooler, damp conditions may mean longer curing periods, so always check the actual site conditions before use.
Why Curing Time Matters
Proper curing is essential to achieve the strength and longevity of your resin-bound surface. Premature use—whether by foot or vehicle—can cause scuffs, impressions, or even disrupt the bond of the resin and aggregate, leading to future repairs. Allowing the full cure maximises durability and performance of your parking area.
Practical Tips for New Surfaces
- Plan your installation during a period of mild, dry weather.
- Keep all traffic (including pets) off the new surface until fully cured.
- If in doubt, err on the side of caution and allow extra time for curing—especially in colder or more humid conditions.
If you’re using a complete solution like the Flowstone Complete Permeable Floor Kit, always follow the included mixing and application guidance.
When This Matters Most
Strict adherence to curing times is particularly important for driveways and parking areas that will bear heavy loads or regular traffic. Allowing full cure guards against early surface damage and future maintenance headaches.
