← Back to How to make a resin ointment

If your resin ointment stays sticky or appears cloudy after curing, there’s likely an issue with the preparation or curing process. These problems are common for beginners, but they’re usually easy to address with a few careful steps.
Check Your Mixing Ratios and Method
The most frequent reason for a tacky finish is inaccurate measuring of the resin and hardener. Always follow the recommended ratios: some resins like One-2-One Epoxy Resin mix 1:1 by volume, while others may need different proportions. Use clean measuring cups and mix thoroughly, ensuring no unmixed material remains on the sides or bottom of the container. Incomplete blending can leave soft or sticky patches.
Curing Environment and Timing
Resin cures best in a stable, dust-free environment between 20–25°C. If the room is too cold or humid, or the piece is disturbed during curing, cloudiness or tackiness can result. Certain quick-curing resins, such as ICreation Fast Epoxy and UV–Creation UV Resin, can help achieve reliable cures but always follow each product’s instructions for the best outcome.
What To Do If Problems Persist
If your resin ointment remains tacky or cloudy after the full curing time, you may be able to remove the affected surface layer with a clean cloth and carefully re-coat it. Double-check measuring, mixing, and curing conditions before repeating the process. Changing resin types with simpler ratios or faster cures may help future attempts.
