Curing time can vary based on the type of adhesive you use. For most two-component epoxy adhesives such as the Klebfix Fast Epoxy Glue or FixExpress Epoxy Glue, a strong initial bond forms in as little as five minutes. After this point, you may be able to gently handle your project, though achieving maximum strength could take longer, especially if the bonded parts will bear weight or be subject to stress.
If using a UV-curing resin, such as UV–Creation, you should expose the glue to a suitable UV lamp until the adhesive is fully hardened—typically 2–3 minutes for most jewellery and small craft pieces. Always ensure the resin is completely solid with no tackiness before touching or moving the item.
Practical Guidance for Safe Handling
After the initial set, resist the urge to use or load the joint prematurely. For epoxy adhesives, waiting at least 5–10 minutes will allow a secure initial hold for light handling. Ideally, leave the item undisturbed for longer if practical, particularly if the parts are under stress or need to be transported.
- Ensure both surfaces are clean and lightly roughened for best results.
- Support or clamp the parts during curing if possible to prevent slips.
- Follow the manufacturer’s directions for room temperature and curing intervals.
