Step-by-Step Finishing Process
Begin by ensuring the resin surface is fully cured, clean, and free from debris. Wet sanding is the preferred method for levelling and smoothing. Start with a coarser grit sandpaper (such as 360) and gently work across the surface with water to minimise dust and scratching.
- Gradually progress to finer grits (e.g. 500, 1000, up to 4000) to refine the finish.
- Always sand evenly, rinsing the surface and changing to fresh sheets as needed.
- Once sanded up to the highest grit, dry the surface to inspect for any imperfections or dull patches.
Polishing for a Glossy Finish
After sanding, use a dedicated resin polishing cream with compatible pads for the best results. Apply a small amount of polish and work in with a soft pad, either by hand or using a random orbital buffer for larger surfaces. Buff until the desired clarity and reflection is achieved.
