How to Polish and Finish Your Galaxy Resin Pendant

Achieving a professional sheen on your galaxy resin pendant isn’t just about the resin—it’s about how you finish and polish the final piece. A few careful steps after demoulding truly elevate your work, leaving it glossy and ready to wear or give as a gift.

Sanding Rough Edges

Once you remove your pendant from the mould, you may notice small imperfections or uneven edges. Begin with a fine-grit sandpaper (around 600–1000 grit) and gently smooth any sharp or rough spots along the perimeter. For particularly tough spots, start with a coarser grit and progress to finer grits for the best finish. Always sand in a circular motion and rinse the pendant between grit changes to avoid scratches.

Polishing for a High Gloss

For a true glass-like shine, you have two main options. The easiest is to apply a thin, clear topcoat of resin—such as the one included in the Evershine Collection kit—over your sanded pendant. Be sure to cover all surfaces evenly. Alternatively, use a microfibre cloth and polishing compound or pad to buff the surface by hand, working in small, gentle circles until you achieve your desired gloss.

When Attention to Finish Matters

Polishing is especially important for galaxy pendants where depth and shine bring out the effect. If you wish to embed fine details or create an illusion of space, a flawless surface will ensure light reflects beautifully, highlighting all the carefully layered colours and shimmers in your design.
