Yellowing or discolouration of resin grout can diminish the appearance of tiled or stone surfaces, especially in bright or outdoor areas. The right selection and application of grout products is key to maintaining clarity and colour.
Choose UV-Stable and Non-Yellowing Products
Many resin grouts are prone to yellowing when exposed to direct sunlight or harsh environmental conditions. For surfaces where lasting brightness and clarity matter—such as outdoor patios, decorative paths, or around light-coloured stones—opt for resins specifically designed to resist UV-induced discolouration. For example, Polirock Polyurethane Binder remains clear over time, making it ideal for white or light aggregates. If you prefer an epoxy system for coloured stones, seek products with added UV filters or stabilisers, like the “Trasparente” epoxy binder.

Proper Application Matters
Yellowing can result not just from the binder, but also from improper mixing or uneven coverage. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for hardener ratios, curing conditions and recommended surface protection. Apply grout on dry, clean surfaces and avoid working in very high temperatures or direct sunlight, as this can speed up discolouration. Consistent, even application helps ensure a lasting, uniform finish.
When Preventing Yellowing Matters Most
- Outdoor projects: Patios, driveways, or garden paths receive continuous sunlight and weather exposure—clear, UV-stable resins offer the most durable results.
- Light or decorative surfaces: Yellowing is more visible on white stones and light tiles, so non-yellowing binders are essential for a long-lasting clean look.
