← Back to How do you bleach resin?

Yellowing is a common issue with resin art, tables, and jewellery as pieces age or are exposed to sunlight. Fortunately, there are a few straightforward techniques to help reduce visible yellowing and renew the clarity of most resin projects.
Polishing Away Surface Yellowing
If yellowing is limited to the surface, gently polishing the resin with a dedicated plastic or resin polish can significantly improve clarity. Use a soft, clean cloth and work in circular motions. Avoid harsh abrasives or solvents, as these may cause clouding or further damage. After polishing, wipe clean with a damp microfibre cloth. Regular, light maintenance can prolong the life of resin surfaces and keep them looking bright.
Recoating with Fresh Clear Resin
For deeper yellowing that cannot be removed by polishing, applying a new layer of clear resin provides an effective refresh. Lightly sand the affected area with fine-grit sandpaper to create a smooth, matte finish. Clean away dust completely before pouring a thin coat of a high-clarity resin, such as “Icrystal” Clear Epoxy Resin or a multipurpose option like “Trasparente”. The fresh layer will encapsulate the old surface, restoring clarity and protecting against further changes.
When Surface Restoration Matters Most
- Important for display pieces or decorative tables exposed to light over time.
- Essential for jewellery or custom art where clarity is key to appearance.
- Valuable for restoring investment in large resin table projects.
