Creating resin figurines is a rewarding craft, but unwanted bubbles can spoil even the most detailed moulds. One of the simplest and most effective steps is pouring the resin mixture slowly—a small adjustment that can make a noticeable difference to your finished piece.

Why Pouring Slowly Helps

When resin is poured too quickly into a mould, air often gets trapped in the liquid, forming bubbles that can mar the clarity and detail of your figurine. By taking your time and allowing the resin to gently flow, you minimise disruptions and give bubbles a chance to rise and escape before curing begins. This is especially important for small or intricately designed moulds, where trapped air is more likely to get caught in fine details.

Practical Tips for Bubble-Free Castings

• Mix gently: Avoid whipping air into your resin as you combine its parts, and let it rest for a minute before pouring to allow any introduced bubbles to surface.
• Pour in a thin stream: When ready, pour the resin slowly and steady into one corner of the mould. Let gravity do most of the work, allowing the resin to naturally fill the space and push air ahead of it.
• Select a suitable resin: Using clear, self-levelling products like “Trasparente” epoxy resin, which is designed for up to 2cm castings, supports detail and reduces trapped air.

Minimising bubbles is crucial when working with transparent or high-detail projects.
