← Back to How do you grout tiles for resin coating?

Bubbles and murky patches in resin finishes can spoil even the most carefully prepared project. A few thoughtful steps during preparation and application help ensure your resin coating stays crystal clear and professionally smooth.
Control Humidity and Environment
Humidity is one of the primary culprits in causing cloudiness within resin finishes. Ideally, work in a low-moisture environment where surfaces and air are as dry as possible. Sudden temperature changes or excessive dampness can introduce trapped moisture into the resin, resulting in a hazy appearance once cured. Setting up in a well-ventilated, dry room provides the best chance for a flawless pour.

Proper Mixing and Pouring Technique
Stir your resin and hardener thoroughly but gently, aiming to combine the components without vigorous whisking, which can introduce bubbles. When pouring, do so slowly, keeping each layer within the product’s recommended maximum thickness—for example, up to 2cm with “Trasparente” multipurpose clear epoxy resin. For deeper projects, apply in several layers. Once poured, use a heat gun at a safe distance to ease out any remaining surface bubbles quickly and safely.
Priming for a Flawless Finish
Applying a quality primer before resin coating—such as Epoxyprimer—can significantly reduce the risk of bubbles forming from porous or absorbent surfaces like tile grout, timber, or screed. A primed surface acts as a barrier, preventing outgassing and ensuring the resin adheres smoothly while helping to lock in clarity.

When Is Bubble Prevention Crucial?
Taking steps to prevent bubbles is particularly important for transparent or decorative finishes, such as tabletops, art pieces, and tiled floors where clarity is key. In these projects, every imperfection is visible, making careful preparation even more vital.
