← Back to How to repair religious resin statues?

Missing hands, noses, or decorative elements can detract from the beauty of a religious resin statue. Restoring those lost details is easier than you might expect with the right method and materials.
Casting Replacement Parts for Detailed Restoration
To replicate missing features with precision, create a mould of an intact area (or a similar statue), then cast the missing part using a fast-setting casting resin. Polyform Polyurethane Casting Resin is ideal for this—its fast cure time and fine fluidity help capture intricate details, ensuring a seamless repair.
- Mix the casting resin according to instructions (typically 90/100 by weight, parts A and B).
- Pour resin into your silicone or latex mould, filling all crevices for accuracy.
- Allow to cure as specified—Polyform is ready to demould in about 30 minutes.
Once set, carefully trim, sand and test-fit the new part onto the statue.

Attaching and Blending the New Feature
For a lasting and invisible repair, select a strong adhesive compatible with resin. FixExpress Epoxy Glue offers fast, reliable bonding and can be tinted for a tailored finish. Apply a small, even layer to join the cast piece securely. After setting, blend edges with a fibreglass-reinforced putty for added strength—such as CROP 2K Fiberglass Putty—and sand smooth before painting.
When This Matters Most
Restoring lost details is especially important for statues with sentimental or religious value. Using mould-cast parts ensures authenticity and durability—essential for items frequently displayed, handled, or exposed to the environment.
