Routine Cleaning Made Simple
The key to maintaining a permeable walkway is regular sweeping. This prevents leaves, dirt, and other debris from restricting water flow through the surface. During dry spells, a light rinse with a garden hose is usually sufficient for removing dust and keeping pebbles bright.
Because resin-bound pebble walkways like those made with the Flowstone kit are non-porous to organic matter, moss and algae growth are much less common than with traditional concrete—so there’s rarely a need for pressure washing or harsh chemical cleaners.
Addressing Stains and Minor Repairs
If you notice the occasional stubborn mark from mud or organic debris, spot-clean with a soft brush and mild soapy water. Avoid strong cleaning chemicals, as they may affect the resin or stone finish. Small cracks or chips can be filled in with a fresh mix of pebbles and appropriate binder—such as POLIROCK polyurethane binder for white stones—restoring the appearance and function of your walkway without extensive repairs.
When Extra Care is Needed
After periods of heavy rainfall, check the surface to ensure water is draining freely, especially in high-traffic areas or walkways shaded by trees. Remove any build-up of soil or plant material to maintain top drainage. In winter, avoid using salt or metal-bladed shovels as these can mark the surface—use a plastic shovel to gently clear snow if necessary.
