Causes of Sticky or Uncured Resin
The primary reason for uncured or tacky resin is incorrect mixing of resin and hardener. Precision is crucial—an inaccurate ratio or inadequate mixing will prevent the chemical reaction needed to cure the resin. Another factor could be insufficient curing time or low ambient temperature. Always check the specific resin’s instructions for both mix ratio and recommended curing conditions.
How to Ensure Proper Curing
- Measure and mix thoroughly: Use the correct ratio, such as the easy 1:1 volume formula found in the Evershine Collection resin kit, and stir slowly but thoroughly until uniform.
- Follow recommended cure times: Give your piece enough time to harden, ideally in a dust-free, room-temperature space. Rushing the process or demoulding too early can leave your ring tacky.
