Why Accurate Measuring Matters

Mixing resin and hardener needs precision. If measurements are even slightly off, the resin may not cure properly or could end up sticky or brittle. Accurate digital scales help ensure you get exact weights, especially for resins requiring weight-based mixing ratios.

Are Kitchen Scales Good Enough?

Standard household or kitchen scales are designed for cooking and may not be sensitive enough for resin work, particularly with small or detailed projects. Even small errors can throw off the chemical reaction. For most resin types, especially those mixed by weight, use digital scales with at least 1g accuracy—or finer for small batches.

Mixing By Volume or Weight

Some resins—like One-2-One Epoxy—use a 1:1 ratio by volume rather than weight. In these cases, precise measuring cups work well. However, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your chosen resin.

When This Matters

Accurate weighing is especially important for transparent projects, jewellery, river tables, and coasters. Inaccurate mixing can spoil the finish or waste costly materials.
