← Back to How to catalyse resin?

UV resin has revolutionised creative crafts and jewellery making, thanks to its ability to cure rapidly under specialised ultraviolet light. Here’s how using a UV lamp turns instant curing into a simple, reliable step in your project workflow.
How UV Resin and Lamps Work
UV resin is a ready-to-use, one-component resin that hardens only when exposed to UV light, eliminating the need for mixing or long curing times. A dedicated UV lamp emits a specific wavelength, activating the resin’s photoinitiators and curing it in two to three minutes—allowing you to work faster and see your creations take shape almost instantly.
Choosing and Using the Right UV Lamp
Select a UV lamp designed for crafts or nail art, ideally with adequate intensity (typically 36–54W) to ensure uniform curing. Place your resin piece directly under the lamp and expose each section for the manufacturer-recommended time, usually around three minutes. Thinner layers (1–3 mm) cure best in a single go; for thicker results, build up in stages. Always work in a well-ventilated area and protect your eyes from direct UV exposure.
When Instant UV Curing Helps Most
- Jewellery projects needing crisp, glassy finishes within minutes
- Small craft items, decorations, or repairs where time is tight
- Workshops and learning environments where quick turnaround keeps creativity flowing
