How Epoxy Resin Dries

1. What is Epoxy Resin?

Epoxy resin is a thermosetting material that, when mixed, undergoes a chemical reaction leading to solidification. Widely used in various sectors such as construction, art, and crafts to create smooth and glossy surfaces. Epoxy resin consists of two main components: resin and hardener, which must be mixed in precise proportions to ensure proper solidification.

2. Drying Process of Epoxy Resin

Once epoxy resin and hardener are mixed, the drying process begins. Epoxy resin has a limited working time, usually between 30 minutes and 2 hours depending on the type of resin used. During this period, the resin is still manipulable and can be poured and shaped. After the working time, the resin starts to harden, initiating the actual drying process.

To ensure optimal drying of epoxy resin, it is important to work in a controlled room temperature environment, generally between 20°C and 25°C.
