Which epoxy resin should you choose?

Each type of project you are going to create needs its own epoxy resin with special characteristics, that’s why there are so many of them: resin for artworks (Resin Art), resin for jewellery, resin for castings, resin for coatings (protective / glossy layer), etc. Moreover, for each application there may be several types of epoxy resin at once, each of which is suitable for a particular technique. Which epoxy resin to choose? Let’s figure this out with Resin Pro epoxy resins!

Trasparente: jewellery, decorations, transparent coasters, deep castings

This epoxy resin was originally developed for 1 mm and more thick coatings and castings up to 2 cm thick: countertops, trays and other furniture. However, it is also suitable for making jewellery and other decor: crystal transparency, excellent resistance to yellowing and no air bubbles formula allow this.

Icrystal: high quality DIY epoxy resin at an affordable price

Special epoxy resin for deep castings up to 5 cm without overheating even in hot weather! Excellent gloss, good durability, reliable protection against yellowing.

•Recommended working conditions: room temperature and very low humidity
•Pot life*: when working with large volumes (500 g and more), it is NOT recommended to keep the mixed resin in the container for more than 5-7 minutes: it is better to pour the resin into the mould/formwork immediately after mixing and colouring.

•Full curing time: 48-72 hours (but sanding and polishing are recommended only 5-7 days after casting)

Epoxytable 10-ten: Deep Pour Resin (Up to 10cm) for Large Projects

High-performance epoxy resin for deep castings up to 10 cm, ensuring crystal-clear results without overheating, even in warm conditions! Perfect for large-scale projects, offering superior gloss, excellent durability, and reliable UV resistance to prevent yellowing.

Art Pro: Resin Art coasters and trays, artworks, Petri Art, glossy finish layer (coating)

This resin is best suited for surface application, making it an ideal material for Resin Art works and panels. But the medium viscosity makes it also the best resin for pouring coasters and trays with colour effects, as well as for Petri Art.

It is ideal for creating artworks and panels in the “Ocean Art”, “Space Art”, “Geode”, “Northern Lights” and other techniques. This resin is only recommended for surface application, as the high viscosity makes it harder to get rid of air bubbles in the mould castings.

Fast curing liquid epoxy resin for making small jewellery: pendants, rings, earrings, bracelets and more. Not suitable for castings with a large square and thickness (stands, trays, etc.). Castings can be demoulded after 6-10 hours, but they will gain full hardness 24 hours after casting.

One-to-one: multifunctional resin with 1 to 1 mixing ratio

This resin is mixed 1 to 1 by volume and is only suitable for resin artworks on surfaces (or coating surfaces) as well as making small decorations (small spheres, cubes, etc.). NOT recommended for castings coasters and trays – they will be flexible for a long time.

NatuResin: non-toxic water-based mineral resin

A 100% non-toxic, made of natural components material that is mixed with water to create everything from small coasters to large sculptures! It has no thickness limit, is safe for children and the castings resemble ceramics, but can be quite fragile compared to epoxy resin.

•Colour: white (with a slight gray tint)
•Odour: odourless
•Viscosity: powder to be mixed with water
•Recommended working conditions: room temperature
•Pot life*: 10-15 min
•Demoulding time: 2-3 hours, depending on environmental conditions
•Full curing time:: 4-15 hours (depending on the casting thickness, shape and ambient temperature)
•Product strength: low, breaks when dropped on hard surfaces
•Product surface: smooth, semi-gloss on the sides that are adjacent to the mould (if it was glossy), matte on the side that did not touch the mould (usually the top of the casting)
•Recommended for: creating coasters and trays imitating stone, small pots, candlesticks, figurines, sculptures, home decor and other creative ideas.

Heat Pro: Anti-Scratch Heat Resistant Coating

Protective material specially designed to cover surfaces with a thin layer of 1-5 mm: gives the surface resistance to hot objects (up to 200 C), as well as non-critical scratches. It also enhances the protection of epoxy resin castings against yellowing. Over time, it does not crack and does not peel off the surface.

•Recommended working conditions: room temperature and very low humidity
•Pot life*: 15 min
•Full curing time: 24 hours (however coating only gets heat and scratch protection after 48 hours)
•Product strength: very high
•Product surface: smooth, glossy, slightly “rubberized” to the touch, so it cannot be sanded and polished
•Recommended for: covering coasters, trays, countertops and other surfaces that need protection from hot objects and scratches (regular epoxy resin melts from objects with temperatures above 70 C). However, this product has some peculiarities in its work: it cannot be applied to all materials, except for transparent epoxy resin without additives and dyes. This means that if your surface material is wood, stone, plastic, etc., or a coloured epoxy resin, then the surface must be coated with the transparent layer of any of our classic resins: Trasparente, Art Pro or Art Pro Deluxe. Be sure to let it harden (24 hours) and then Heat Pro coating can be applied.

* – the term “pot life” means the time period from the moment the resin components are mixed until the moment when it begins to thicken (gradually harden). In fact, this is the time of working with the material.

Vertical Glass: unique ultra-thick resin for vertical and other surfaces

The main feature of this material is its extremely high viscosity, which is why this resin does not flow at all and keeps the texture that you make manually with spatula, roller, brush or any other toll!

•Recommended for: creating a texture pattern on vertical, inclined and horizontal surfaces: walls, art-boards, etc.; decorating various objects: vases, figurines, furniture, paintings, candlesticks, etc.; other creative applications: it all depends on your imagination!
